I was born in 1961 and grew up in the cold war era when we hoped that the philosphy of Mutually Assured Destruction would prevent a war in Europe. I trained as an Engineer and pursued a career in the nuclear industry – an experience from which I learned that corporate publicity is about corporate gain and not about the truth.
I love sailing, walking and reading. My favourite books are The Divide by Nicholas Evans and Gray Mountain by John Grisham which share a theme of environmental action.
I count myself as one of a lucky generation; born in a comfortable place at a great time. We have had the easiest life but now need to use our influence to drive action on the environment so we don’t leave a painful legacy to our sons and daughters.
